Tudor 2022 Releases: In-House Calibres, Bi-Colour and a Pro Model for the Black Bay Family

With the Tudor 2022 releases, the company presents manufacture movements for the Black Bay 31, 36, 39 and 41 and further variants of the most sought-after Black Bay models. The highlight of the novelties is the Black Bay Pro - a homage to the first Explorer II.

Tudor releases 2022

Black Bay Pro as a highlight

The Black Bay Pro (Ref. 79470) adds a second model with GMT function to the collection. The new toolwatch is characterised by a perfectly balanced diameter of 39 mm (in comparison: the Black Bay GMT measures 41 mm). The fixed stainless steel bezel gives the most exciting reference of Tudor's 2022 novelties a calmer, simpler look.

Inspired by the Rolex Ref. 1655

The Rolex subsidiary Tudor is known for elegant luxury watches that skillfully combine the characteristics of its own brand history with stylistic elements of historical Rolex models. This also applies to the 2022 novelties: with the Black Bay Pro, Tudor pays tribute to the Explorer II (Ref. 1655, "freccione"), which was produced from 1971 to 1985 and was the first Explorer II reference from Rolex. This is primarily indicated by the inscription on the bezel and the yellow GMT hand, which bears a certain resemblance to the orange arrow hand of Ref. 1655.

In-house calibre MT5652

With the 2022 Tudor novelties, the company continues the brand's technical and stylistic triumph: In the Black Bay Pro, the brand has installed the in-house calibre MT5652. This movement offers around 70 hours of power reserve, COSC certification and an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring. The hand for the local time can also be adjusted separately. The linking of the date with the local time hand offers you a remarkable convenience: the date automatically jumps forwards or backwards if you exceed midnight when setting the local time.

New Tudor Black Bay GMT in Bi-Color

The Black Bay GMT has been one of the bestsellers of the Tudor line-up since its presentation in 2018. With the 2022 novelties, this model line is supplemented by a bi-colour variant: the new Ref. M79833MN combines yellow gold with stainless steel; the red-brown-black aluminium bezel perfectly matches the two-tone look of the new Black Bay GMT.

Tudor's new "Root Beer" GMT features a winding crown, bezel and lugs in solid gold, while the remaining links of the bracelet are encased in yellow gold. The indices and inscription on the dial and the four hands of the ref. M79833MN, are also in gold.

Black Bay Chrono S&G with new dial

After Tudor presented the Black Bay Chrono with a so-called Panda Dial in 2021, the 2022 novelties are predominantly in the spirit of the bi-colour look: the Black Bay Chrono S&G, which made its debut in 2019, was presented with a gold dial for the first time at Watches & Wonders 2022. This new dial, whose official colour designation is "Champagne", also offers an exciting panda look with its black totalisers.

Furthermore, the champagne dial of the Novelties 2022 from Tudor is characterised by a satin-finished surface in a radial cut. This ensures that the gold tone changes depending on the incidence of light. At the same time, the gold shimmer is pleasantly understated due to the satin finish. This also applies to the gold accents on the case.

Tudor Royal in 28 mm: Oysterquartz style for ladies

With the Tudor Royal 28, the Swiss manufacturer is now offering its Heritage Dresswatch for ladies. The 28-millimetre version complements the 41-mm Royal 41. Both models feature an angular case with integrated lugs in the Oysterquartz style. In this way, the Royal collection refers to the Rolex Oysterquartz models of the 1970s and 1980s. In contrast to the Oysterquartz, both Royal models feature mechanical automatic movements: the Royal 28 is equipped with the T201 calibre, while the Royal 41 is equipped with the T603 calibre.

Tudor Black Bay 31, 36, 39 and 41 S&G with facelift

The Black Bay 31, 36, 39 and 41 S&G have also received an exciting facelift in the course of Tudor's 2022 novelties. All diameters of the S&G variants now have in-house calibres:

  • Black Bay 31 SG: calibre MT5201
  • Black Bay 36 S&G: calibre MT5400
  • Black Bay 39 S&G: calibre MT5602
  • Black Bay 41 S&G: calibre MT5601

The Black Bay 31 S&G has around 50 hours of power reserve, while the 36, 39 and 41 mm models offer approximately 70 hours of power reserve. All calibres are COSC-certified.
