Breitling Montbrillant

Breitling-designs of the mid-20th-century experience a reincarnation in the form of the new Montbrillant collection.

Experts immediately notice the similarities between the classic Navitimer and the Montbrillant 01, which is kept in the design of the 1940s and 1950s - but with its diameter of 40 millimetres, its case is fashionably big. The famous aviation slide rule offers a quick and easy way of performing different calculations by means of the rotating bezel. The client has the choice between a leather strap - also available in crocodile leather, the renowned Navitimer-bracelet, or the perforated metal bracelet Air-Racer.

The current Montbrillant-collection offers homage to the watches of the past: the Montbrillant Datora (Ref. A2133012). Breitling developed this men’s watch following the top-selling model, Breitling Datora of the ‘40s. This wristwatch is equipped with a calendar and a bold date-display: the day of the week and the month are shown in two displays next to one another. Additionally, a hand with a red crescent points to the day of the month. Inside the 43-millimetre-case, the calibre Breitling 21 is installed.

The price for both models fall in the same range but vary according to case material and bracelet.

Evidently, Montbrillant timepieces are widely known for a combination of vintage design, innovative mechanisms, and enduring structures. Thus, the Montbrillant watches provide a timeless design that will last throughout the ages and can be passed on from one generation to the next.

Apart from current models of the Montbrillant collection, there are also older and much sought-after Montbrillant versions that can be found second-hand and quite often, in remarkable condition. Offers on the second-hand market can oftentimes be found at a comparatively appealing prices. These vintage models can no longer be found in Breitling's annual catalogue: the Chronolog. They are therefore rare timepieces and individuals who come across these instruments can consider themselves lucky.
