Oysterdate instead of Oyster Perpetual
The Rolex 6694 replaced the 6094 and 6494 references in 1958 and was produced until 1989. The 34-millimetre Ref. 6694 is reduced to the absolute essentials. The Oysterdate is one of the simplest Rolex models, yet has all the characteristics that make up a timepiece from the Geneva manufacturer. Additionally, the Rolex Oysterdate Precision 6694 is the only model besides the Vintage Daytona with manual winding. For this reason, the watch is not marked "Oyster Perpetual", but "Oysterdate Precision". Rolex uses the word "Perpetual" to designate its automatic movements.
The vintage charm of Ref. 6694
Since the Rolex 6694 was produced between 1958 and 1989, it is now only available as a vintage model. Playing to this strength, the Rolex Oysterdate Precision 6694 has many attractive vintage features such as
Plexiglas instead of mineral or sapphire crystal
Tritium luminous material on the hands and dial
Classic size with 34mm
Manual winding
Vintage calibre 1225 with 21,600 vibrations per second
