A potential collector's watch
When Rolex introduced the six-digit reference numbers, the Swiss manufacturer did not increase the case diameter, but rather made the cases wider. This was Rolex's clever way of following the trend of larger watches without "inflating" the diameters. Over time, however, the proportions were brought back into line with the old proportions.
The watches with wider cases were produced for a limited period and are, therefore, potential collectors' watches whose value is not expected to decrease. Additionally, these models – including the Rolex 116234 – are an excellent option, especially for wider wrists: this classic watch does not look too small on the wrist.
