A distinctive design with cult status
Panerai Luminor Marina watches are real gems on the wrist. They are still in great demand by collectors and watch enthusiasts. This is due not only to the high-quality processing of exquisite materials and the high-recognition value of the watches but also to the history of the Panerai Luminor Marina.
These chronographs, equipped with either a manual wind or an automatic calibre, were originally developed for combat divers in the Italian Navy. This heritage is evident in the special equipment and design of the series which is very much based on its historical predecessors: the hour and minute hands, as well as the dial indices and numbers, are coated with self-luminous Luminor. This was patented in 1949.
The crown-protecting bridge and the angular case design of the watches are also characteristic features. If that's not retro enough, the Panerai Luminor Marina 1950 will delight you even more. Here, the original pillow-shaped design was retained but strikingly emphasised to give a more vintage look. In addition, these models are labelled 'REG. T.M.' on the crown-protecting bridge, a detail missing from other Luminor models.
