Longines is a Swiss company that was founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier. Today, the Swiss house looks back on rich experience in the field of Haute Horlogerie. Longines initially produced pocket watches with a verge escapement that was presented to the international market. Longines quickly established itself as a high-quality timepiece manufacturer and soon became an expert producer of mechanical watch movements. The watchmaking factory was and is still – located in "Les Longines" or “the long meadows”. Eventually, Longines bloomed into a famous brand that was renowned for its quality pieces. In 1880, the name “Longines” was registered as a trademark and is, therefore, the oldest registered watch brand in the world.

The distribution of Longines timepieces soon conquered the international market. The purchase of an additional factory in the village of "Les Longines" – which, translated to “the long meadows” – in 1866, laid down the foundation for the success of the brand.
